Working With Mason & Leafcutter Bees
Providing habitats for the native bees in your area is a wonderful way to support bee populations, add pollination activity to your gardens, and interact with these fascinating insects. In this workshop, we will be discussing Oregon natives with a focus on mason and leafcutter bees, both of which are incredibly gentle and require minimal maintenance. By the end, you’ll know how to set-up a habitat for solitary tunnel-nesting bees, harvest and store bee cocoons and provide appropriate forage.
Mason bees start their season in the spring, and leafcutters take over in the summer. You will leave with an understanding of bee biology, management requirements and a personally crafted tunnel-nesting bee habitat!
